Could your living room do with some life? Life, as we all know, costs money. If you have some of that, the Lepakshi Emporium will exchange it for something from Assam.
The Lepakshi Exporium at RTC X Roads is organising an exhibition and sale of cane artifacts from the 11th till the 19th of September. The exhibition features crafts from Assam. There are sofa sets, chairs and center tables, pieces like a wall-mounting holder for bric-a brac, trolleys, side-tables and even lampshades.
The highlight of the sale is the sofa sets. These are available in different patterns and weaves, with a prices ranging from Rs. 6,250 to Rs. 8,000. The sofa sets need cushions, and changing them can alter the look and decor of your home easily, giving your interiors a whole new feel.
A set of 3+1+1 seater sofa comes with matching coffee table or center table. The tables need to be topped with a glass pane to complete the look.
In one corner of the exhibition are tiny cane artefacts like hats, pens and hand fans, which are priced reasonably in the range of Rs. 30 to Rs. 200. Moving a little further, you will find some carved pieces, and all of them look like they have something bizarre sticking out of their heads. This is what makes them stand out. All of these have been carved from the root of the bamboo shoot. The thicker part of the roots have been used to create the piece, and the unsmoothened surface has the roots intact.
