Some would say it's overkill to use the facilities built for the National Games, for chess. Then, some others would say they're at least being used. Here's an opportunity to visit them on some pretext.
The Chess Players' Association of India is organising the AP Open Rapid Chess Championship, on 16th and 17th October, at Guru Gobind Singh Multi-Purpose Sports Complex. The total prize money at stake is Rs. 10,000. The top 3 winners will be selected for the Pune Knockout Rapid Chess Championships, where the players will have an opportunity to grab an assured prize money of Rs. 2,500 with the winner getting Rs 1 lakh.
The entry fee is Rs. 200 per participant, and with the tournament being open, anyone from sub-junior to senior can participate in the event. Sport registrations and entries will be accepted.
