The Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad is organising a sports meet for the disabled, on the 17th and 18th of October at Victory Play Ground. About 45 special institutions for the disabled, from around the twin cities, will be participating in the annual meet. The participants are divided into groups according to their ages: 8 to 11 years, 12 to 15 years, 16 to 21 years and above 22 years.
Competitions for the mentally challenged will be held in shotput and running, and students above the age of 22 will also have a game called bocce, which is similar to bowling. They also have games like tug-of-war, kabaddi, tricycle race, chess and basketball-throw for the physically challenged. The winners will be given a kit containing a travel bag, towels etc. which will be of use to them even later.
