It is hailed as the breeding ground for the country's next generation of international cricketers. Fortunately, watching it is not as difficult as playing in it.
The Hyderabad Cricket Association is organising the Annual Parle Cup Inter-Schools Under-17 Cricket Tournament from 6th October, at various city grounds. In view of the record number of 34 school teams that have confirmed their participation, HCA has divided these schools into groups, with each group having four pools. The teams in Group A are as below:
Pool A - Wesley Junior College (Team A), Ivy League Academy, Don Bosco High School and St Peter's School
Pool B - Wesley Junior College (Team B), St Mary's Junior College, Narayana Group of Institutions, Vasundhara Junior College and Loyola Academy
Pool C - Bhavan's Aurobindo Junior College (Team A), Little Flower Junior College (Team B), Gowtham Junior College and Redsun Junior College
Pool D - Little Flower Junior College (Team A), Bhavan's Aurobindo Junior College (Team B), Jubilee Hills Public School and Chirec Public School.
The tournament will be played on knockout, league and knockout format. The top teams from each pool will make it to the quarter-finals, where the teams will again be divided into two pools and the matches will be played on a league basis. The top two teams from the two pools will clash in the semifinals, and the semifinal winners will play in the final.
The dates of the semifinals and the zonal finals will be decided once the league matches are over. The schedules for the league matches are as follows:

The Parle Cup tournament is hailed as the breeding ground for the country's next generation of international cricketers. Started in 2001, it is conducted across 14 major cities: Ludhiana, Amritsar, Patiala, Jalandhar, Mohali, Chandigarh, Hyderabad, Chennai, Mumbai, Coimbatore, Madurai, Pondichery, Trichy and Salem. It covers over 500 schools, making it the largest inter-school cricket tournament in India today.
The tournament follows a format where schools compete at the state level for the Parle Cup, and each city winner participates at the national level for the Parle Champions trophy.
