There are some stages in life when it is very difficult to learn computers. Anything above the age of 40 does not fall in this category, believes the Literacy House.
The Literacy House, Andhra Mahila Sabha, is organizing a workshop for computer education for senior citizens, from 16th to 29th of October. The course will be taught in both Telugu and English, and is designed to impart basic computer skills to the participants. The course includes instructions on computer fundamentals, Windows-2000, MS Word, e-mail and Internet browsing.
Each batch consists of 20 seats, and the seats will be alloted on first-come-first-served basis. Each batch will be allotted two hours, between 8am and 2pm.
Andhra Mahila Sabha was started by Dr Durgabai Deshmukh 60 years ago from her home in Mylapore, Chennai, and has since expanded to various institutions across Chennai and Hyderabad. The primary focus of the organisation is providing relief, comprehensive care and rehabilitation to all who need it, in the areas of education, health, vocational skills and shelter.
