Radha's teacher is blind, and Jaishree's is non-existent. Yes, this should be interesting!
A festival of Annamacharya keertanas is on at Kala Subbarao Kala Vedika, the mini-hall of Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha, from 2nd to 6th January. Today, the 3rd day, Keertana Arts is organising a recital of Tanva, Jatara, Janapada, Lali and Pelli keertanas by Jaishree and K Radha. They will be supported by Satyadev on the keyboard and Prabhakar on the tabla.
Jaishree and Radha will singing some folk, lullaby and marriage keertanas of Saint Annamacharya, like Kommalala Enthavade Govinda Raju, Paluku Tenela Thalli, Jo Achyutananda Jojo Mukunda, Ksheerabdi Kanyakaku Sri Mahalakshmiki, Marali Marali Jaya Mangalamu, Pidikita Thalambralu Pelli Koothuru, Shobhaname Sobhaname Vaibhavamuna, Vacchenu Alamelu Manga and Vinnapalu Vinavale Vintha Vinthalu.
Radha is a disciple of D V Mohan Krishna and Snehalatha Murali. She is a B-grade artiste of the AIR, Vijayawada. Jaishree is a self-taught music artiste, who started her music career as a light music singer and is now learning Annamacharya Keertanas with the help of audio cassettes and CDs, for the last two years. Both Jaishree and Radha have performed at various temples in Bhadrachalam, Tirupati, Srisailam, Yadagirigutta, Vijayawada and Hyderabad.
