The only way you'd know anything of what follows is if your wife or mother forces you to watch Telugu channels in primetime, or if you are the wife or the mother yourself. For, these are to do with Telugu serials - yes, they actually have viewership!
Vamsee Art Theaters International is giving away the Vamsee Television, Cultural And Social Service Awards this month. The awards committee was headed by the television personality Vijaya Durga.
The best Telugu serial award will be given to Sangharshana, and Haravilas will get the best mythological serial award. The other award winners are: Jackie (best actor, Sarada), Haritha (best actress, Sangharshana), Rajiv Kanakala (best sensational actor, Ruturagalu) and Udaybhanu (best sensational actress, Sangharshana).
Special awards will be presented to E Sreeram for Eetharam Katha and Priya for Sarada. Achyut and Kinnera will be given the Soma Parijatham memorial gold medals for their contribution to television since 1987.
In the 'services' and 'theater' sections, the dental surgeon M S Goud will be given the Vaidya Seva Nidhi award, and the Bombay Andhra Mahasabha, Mumbai, will get the Best Cultural Promoter award. The Lifetime Achievement Award will be given to Rallabandi Kameswara Rao, for his contribution to the theater and the cinema fields.
On this occasion, the Sindooram serial unit will also be felicitated, and film director Kodi Ramakrishna will release the audiocassette of this serial. Dr C Narayan Reddy, Jnanpeeth awardee and cultural advisor to the state government, will be the chief guest on the occasion.
