A group of six artists are exhibiting their works from 21st to 29th July, at Chitramayee - State Gallery Of Fine Arts. Titled Resonance, the exhibition showcases 90 of their recent works of Boul Dey, Kondor Valeria, Kuntal Dey, Romi Buriya, Satender Singh and Sunil Chawdiker.
Boul Dey graduated in painting from the Vishwa Bharathi, Shantiniketan, in 2001. She likes painting nature and to create the essence of dream and nostalgic feelings in her paintings - her paintings on gardens bear testimony to this. She has chosen water color as her medium.
Kondor Valeria, a Hungarian, graduated in visual communications from Eszterhazy Karoly College in Eger, Hungary, in 1997. Taking inspiration from her mother saying that probably aliens have visited her, she paints these kinds of pictures. She uses acquarelle (water color) and light oil to depict these feelings about a woman's garden with seeds, plants, fruits and the river. The gardender is defined by the surroundings that she has created.
Graduating in 2000 and with a Masters in 2002 in fine arts from the Vishwa Bharathi, Shantiniketan, Kuntal Dey draws inspiration from nature and from man's day-to-day interactions. He always tries to portray his thoughts to create a balance between nature and man with equal importance to both.
Romi graduated in visual arts (textile design) from the Govt. College of Art & Craft, Kolkata, in 1990, and got her PG in industrial design (textile design) from the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, in 1994. Nature has always fascinated Romi, and she also loves to nurture human feelings and relationships. Female forms play a vital role in her paintings, and she uses a variety of media according to the need of the particular painting.
As a young artist, Satender Singh doesn't confine to a particular style, but likes exploring and experimenting with the various forms and media. In his paintings, he has used animal and bird forms along with the human forms to show the feelings of humans and the animals when they are in love. Sankranthi (man and the bull) and Beauty And The Bees (a lady and greedy men swarming around her in the form of bees) substantiate Satender's topic.
Born in a picturesque Goa village, Sunil Chawdiker grew up amongst the evergreen and ever-welcoming fishermen. Though settled in Hyderabad since completing his Masters from the Central University, his companionship and association with his childhood memories have left their reflections on his canvas.
