You'd be happy and sad at the existence of the Sri Vaishnava Seva Sangham - happy because it's doing a lot of good work, and sad because one of the big reasons that it started is to ensure that the funds targeted at underprivileged kids reach them. See, we need organizations for that.
Seshachary started the Sangham in 1999 to help economically backward children belonging to the Vaishnava community get good education. The organization arranges sponsorships for the education of such poor children. And like we said, it also interacts with various public and private agencies and sees that the economic schemes/resources aimed at the underprivileged children reach them.
The organization is today giving away cash awards to the top 6 scorers (3 boys and 3 girls) in class X belonging to the Vaishnava community. The top scoring boy and girl will get Rs. 5,116 each, with Rs. 2,500 and Rs.1,116 for the 2nd and the 3rd rankers respectively.
On this occasion, N C Murthy and his troupe will entertain the audience with their music. Murthy is from a family of musicians, and he, along with his other family members, will perform some classical numbers. The State Higher Education Minister, Karanam Ramachandra Rao, will give away the cash awards at the end to the meritorious students. Dr S Venugopalachary, MP, and Ramanachary, IAS, will preside over the function.
