Every mom wants a Krishna to raise, but the Lord has always had the problem of availability. As devotees proudly proclaim, it's one in every million that gets to meet Him. We're not going to get into theological and totally pointless arguments - it's not as if the Lord is going to change his stand - but you gotta give it to the Lord that His infinite mercy has seen Him give every mom the power of seeing a Krishna in her child. Here's a whole lot of Krishnas getting together.
The Annamayya Kalapeetham and the Kondaveeti Foundation are jointly organizing singing and fancy dress competitions for kids on the event of Sri Krishna Janmashtami. Children below 12 years of age can take part in these competitions for free.
The participants in the singing competition will have to sing only Annamayya's sankeertanas on Lord Krishna. Yes, though most of know only of Annamayya's sankeertanas on Lord Rama and Lord Venkateshwara, he has written some on Lord Krishna, Ammavaru, Narasimha Swamy and Anjaneya. Some of his sankeertanas on Lord Krishna that are very famous are "Muddugaare Yashoda", "Bandi Virichi Pinnapapalatho Nadi" and "Satulara Choodarey".
As for the fancy dress competition, the children will have to dress up as Krishna, and the best-dressed child will get a prize. At the end there will be a discussion on the leelas of Krishna, and on Annamayya's writings about Him.
