The Computer Science & Engineering department of Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology is organising Tempesta-Tecnica 2008, a national-level technical symposium, on 29th & 30th March, at the college's campus in Ghatkesar. The 2-day technical fest will have several events and competitions:
Paper Presentations
The contest provides a platform to every budding computer professional to present his/her ideas and work in front of experts in this field. There were 350 registrations received out of which 40 topics were selected for presentation. Any topic related to computer science is acceptable.
Mini Projects
This event serves as a platform for all those budding professionals who want to showcase their expertise in their field of interest. All that is needed for the participants is to submit a mini-project related to computer science.
Programming
In this contest, the performance and speed of the participants' programs and their basic understanding of programming is tested. The participants are required to develop a complete solution to a given problem within a given span of time, wherein their ability to co-ordinate and manage resources would be put to the ultimate test.
Mock Interviews
Take a mock interview and find out for yourself how well you fare. This gives you a fair idea of how you would actually perform in front of interview panels as also the scope to improve while there is still time. Microsoft, CA and Infosys will be handling the personal interview round.
Creativity Quest
This event is divided into three sub-events: Ad Arena, I Am Legend and Picture Abhi Bhi Baaki Hai.
Ad Arena
Candidates will be shown different contemporary products, and they will have to come up with a creative "punchline" for the same. It is an on-the-spot event. The best punchline will get a cool 1000 bucks and some nifty goodies.
I Am Legend
A situation arises where the earth is completely immersed in water and you are the one survivor. How will you handle this situation? Remember Noah's Ark.
Picture Abhi Bhi Baaki Hai
Contestants are required to formulate a climax for a short movie with no ending, that will be shown on the spot.
Technical Quiz
This is an event which gauges the ability of the student in the following aspects:
Basic knowledge in C, C++, Java etc.
Quickness in answering questions
Strong visual perception and adept knowledge in the latest as well as fledgling technologies
Quick Pick
This event has three rounds: Preliminary, 3*2 Matrix, and 3.60 secs.
Preliminary
20 questions will be asked, 20 mins will be given, and there will be no options. Participants have to write down the answers. The top third of the students qualify for the second round.
3*2 Matrix
In this round, the names of any 6 general topics will be given, and participants are given the opportunity to choose. Then 10 questions will be asked on that topic. The top 3 scores qualify for the final round.
3.60 secs
In this round, the group which answers the most questions within 60 seconds will be the winner.
Treasure Hunt
Your mission is to find the hidden treasure just by sitting at your desk and moving the mouse and typing some keys. Solve the clues, move forward and overcome the obstacles.

This event will have five games to choose from:

FIFA
Unreal Tournament
