This is a festive season for Syrian Christians, a community named after the Christians from Syria moved to Kerala centuries ago, and other Keralites in town. And eager to not be left out of the Kerala food train, The Waterside Cafe is hosting a food festival from the 13th to the 28th September. The festival is open for lunch from 12:40pm to 3:30pm and for dinner from 7:30pm to 11:30pm.
The festival offers an exclusive Kerala spread with mouth-watering dishes. The starters include Kerala's famous crispies made of Banana and Jackfruit. There's also a separate counter for snacks, with Unni Appalam, Acchaappam and Tiruepu Wada, some other authentic delicacies from the state.
There's more from God's own country, whose cuisine is incomplete without Kela (Banana) Biryani, Red Rice Biryani and Pachari Chor (steamed rice), with side dishes Kadala Kari (dal) and Ulli Sambar.
The non-vegetarian spread includes Kozhi Varuval (dry chicken), Atteraichi Vartharaicha Kari (mutton) and Alapuzha Chemeen Biriyani. And Parippu Pradhaman, Godhambu Payasam and Nei Halwa are some of the desserts on the menu.
