When you list out the reasons to celebrate, this festive season, watch out for the 'foreign hand', too. Oktoberfest, the 16-day carnival that's celebrated in Germany, is being celebrated at Taj Krishna, in association with Goethe Zentrum, from 25th to 30th September. As part of the event, Encounters is hosting a food festival for dinner everyday.
Encounters has planned a special dinner buffet with a Bavarian menu whipped up by 2 guest chefs from Germany. The buffet is priced at Rs. 1,200 per person.
On 26th September, Taj Krishna is also having a celebration in its ballroom lawns, which includes a medley of several events - music by a German trio, and lager and dance shows. The event is priced at Rs. 1,500 for couples and Rs. 900 for singles.
The original Oktoberfest occurred in Munich, on October 18, 1810 for the commemoration of the marriage of Prince Ludwig (later King Ludwig I) and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen (namesake of the Theresienwiese festival grounds), with a horse race Oktoberfest is a 16-day festival held each year in Munich, and is one of the most famous events in Germany, and an important part of Bavarian culture.
