The festival of Sankranti is here, and venues are falling over each other to woo the crowds that consist of humble people like you and moi. Here is an event by the fair that claims to never sleep - Shilparamam.
The programmes it is conducting are as follows:
Jan 14
Culinary competitions - a chance for the gastric juices and the sense of smelling to have maximum exercise. The competition is going to be held between 4:00pm and 5:00pm. Interested foodmakers may please contact 98485-31610 or 5664-8164 to register. Spot registrations are also possible.
The items should be traditional Sankranti specials, and, for the last time, a cake baked in the form of a kite is not a traditional Sankranti dish. Pre-cooked home food can be brought, too, but has to reach the venue by 4:30pm. The display of items also carries weightage. So begin digging through those recipe books or rush to the grandmas, as the case may be!

Time to splash colored powder in graceful and breathtaking formations. We are talking about Rangoli here, and the competition to judge the best of the art work is going to be held from 4:00pm to 5:00pm. Interested artistic fingers with their brain counterparts need to register before 3:00pm on the same day and also pay Rs. 100 by DD drawn in favour of Special Officer, Shilparamam. Spot registration facilities will also be on for the late comers, whom we like to call impulsive or instinctive.
Daily Sankranti programs such as Sankranti Patalu, Andhra Janapada Vaibhavam, dance ballets and various folk dances like Jangama devara, Budabukkalu, Chekka Bhajan and harvest dance by Khoyas will also be performed on all the these days.
Also to be remembered is that attractive prizes are going to be offerred to the winners of the competitions. So here is a chance for you to celebrate the festival in the way you prefer. Eat or watch where you are going.
