After rable rousing about the gods of war, come down and catch the voices in wartime. Hyderabad Film Club is presenting its monthly short film, Poetry in Wartime, on 26th August at 6:30 PM. It's being screened at Prasad's Preview Labs, Beside LV Prasad Eye Hospital.
This movie features featuring Sampurna Chatterji (who would be present among the audience) and is directed by Rick King.
Poetry in Wartime - released under the title of Voices in Wartime - is a new feature-length documentary film designed to expand your imagination, deepen your compassion, and change the way the world thinks and talks about war.
The film explores war through images and the words of poets, both unknown and famous, to bring the experience of war into a sharp focus that inspires horror, sadness, a passionate quest for truth, and a profound sense of hope.
The film presents poets from countries and conflicts around the world - from Iraq (Sinan Antoon) to the US (David Connolly) and the UK (Rachel Bentham), from India (Sampurna Chatterji), Nigeria (Chris Abani), and Colombia (Antonieta Viallamil) to Vietnam.
Voices in Wartime gives the gut-wrenching experience of war in a fresh perspective. It steps away to look at all wars, not just the conflicts currently in the news.
It is a 74 minute film, edited by Dan Loewenthal, with music by Anton Sanko, and produced by Jonathan King and Rick King. It was released in 2004 by Cinema Libre Studio.
