If you haven't figured it out yet from all the other events on fullhyd.com by now, OU is rocking with activity. Here's the civil engineering department getting jiggy with it.
Nirmaan 2007 is the annual technical symposium of the Department of Civil Engineering, University College of Engineering, in the Osmania University campus. This year it is being held from 17th to 19th February, with about 50 colleges from all over the city and the country expected to participate. The fest brings out the talent from within future civil engineers. A variety of events stud the 3-day fest as below:
Elixir - Paper Presentations. The main event of the symposium which will see the young engineers from all over the country present their new ideas. Topics for the papers are Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Transportation Engineering, GIS & Remote Sensing and Water Resource Management.
Aavishkaar - A model presentation on-the-spot event which requires strong fundamentals as well as artistic skills. The problem statement will be given well in advance. Everything else has to be done at the site.
Vigyaan - An expert talk event which requires participants to present new ideas that they keep doodling with in their minds.
Techdrill - The grande finale of the symposium, Tech Drill, a technical quiz, takes you through the civil engineering world.
Strutz Corner - A techie-tainment, which is about Sudokus with a twist, crossways, who built where when???, why is it designed that way???, and other on-the-spot wacky competitions and civil trivia.
Windbag - A Debate and JAM corner, where one has to convince the judges' panel of their communication skills by giving innovative solutions to some site problems.
In addition to all the above events, workshops are being held to showcase the new developments in civil engg technology and to also bring out the real joy in some of the age-old fundamentals. They are also aimed at providing hands-on experience to students, offering things that are of much use on site but are out of the curriculum.
For the entertainment part, there are cool evenings with lots of fun and masti. After a day full of techie stuff... dance gaana, masti and games, music and hungama.
