Ananda Shankar Jayant is one of the city's best known dancers and her troupe of young and talented students have staged ballets all over the country. And what makes their performances interesting is the juxtaposition of traditional and contemporary forms of expression. For example, a bharathnatyam ballet performed on the lines of Jonathan Livingstone Seagull. Navarasa, one of Ananda's latest works, is just as intriguing.
Navarasa is one such ballet, which is interesting for its complete dependence on abstract body movement for story-telling. The dancers play around with the mnemonics of music, body and dance, which are strung together in an ecletic order. Critics think very well of the ballet and it's been performed successfully for a year now.
This time it will form the finale to the Opthalmology Camp conducted by LV Prasad Eye Institute. For further details please contact 5566-2323.
