Mecharena 08 - A National Level Technical Symposium: Events in Hyderabad

Mecharena '08, the 6th annual technical festival of Department of Mechanical Engineering, University College of Engineering, is on from 21st to 23rd February, at the Department's campus in Osmania University. Mecharena is organised by the mechanical students annually showcasing the farsightedness, commitment and creativity (yes, all of them) of the students of the mechanical engineering department.

The 3-day fest will feature various engineering colleges of the city, state and country, coming up with innovative models and presentations that showcase the talents of the mechanical engineers of tomorrow. A load of technical events for the three days have been lined up as under:

Mechaneer
A quiz program based on core mechanical concepts, the latest developments in mechanical engineering as well as practical applications of mechanical engineering concepts. There will initially be a written elimination round, with the top teams getting to participate in the finals.

Scopus
It is a spot event. Rules and regulations will be announced at registration desk during the fest.

Bite The Bytes
A spot programming contest, this is a platform wherein programmers vie with their peers for the top honors. A qualification round will decide the teams for the further rounds, where teams are put to a brain-teasing session during which they try to find solutions to the given problem.

Scribbler's Desk
This is an on-the-spot essay writing competition, where the pen is the tongue of the mind.

Dust Buster
A sweeping machine. The goal of the game is to sweep different zones of the given floor and drop in to the adjacent bins, which are provided beside the board placed at the same level.

Aavishkar
Awaken the designer in you; get ready to communicate your research and results by combining text and graphics and map out vivid, easily comprehendible and visually pleasing posters.

Modart
A paper presentation event on the topics of Thermal And Fluid Engineering, Design And Control Engineering, Manufacturing And Industrial Management and Non-Conventional Energy Systems. Other papers related to mechanical engineering will also be considered.

Dollars & $$
A stock market event. Fictitious companies will be used in the game. You will be given some virtual capital with which you can buy shares of your choice. News update between the sessions will guide to make a decision. At the end, a high worth will mark you a winner.

Combat Zone
A multiplayer computer game. The objective is to capture your rivals, dominate the map and crush all opponents.

Feindre
Team up with the hosts of automobile experts and probe into the interiors to know how stuff works.

Fast And Furious
A racing robotic event. The objective is to race your cars to the finish line.

Yantra
A designing event. Incorporate your ideas into an existing model and come up with a better design.
