Nirmaan '08 is the 3-day national level techfest conducted by the Department of Civil Engineering, University College of Engineering, Osmania University, from 21st to 23rd February. The idea was conceived in 2002, and it has been getting better and better every year. This year, the festival features the biggest array of events yet:

Aavishkar
This event is divided into two sub-events, Bridge and Tower.

Bridging - Build a bridge for the valley to be given on the spot.
Tower - The Mayor wants a tower in the city. Participants will have to send in their design details and specifications with AutoCAD drawings, for the Mayor to select the best five.

Athithi Vigyaan
Guest lectures by academic experts and industrial tycoons.

Medha
Paper presentation contest, on any of the following themes:
Structural Engineering
Transportational Engineering
Hydraulics and Water Resource Management
Geotechnical Engineering/Geosciences
Disaster Management
Soft Computing Techniques in Civil Engg
Environmental Engineering

The concrete mix testing contest.

Gaming
A gaming contest. The games to be played are Counter Strike v1.6, Need For Speed Most Wanted, and Age Of Mythology.

Pradarshini
The workshops about the latest trends and equipment of the profession.

Tikling Brains
A technical quiz.

Design Contest
Apply your minds, put in your creativity and design something that impresses the judges. The best design walks away with the prize.
