It's that time of the year when they hype it all up, and no, there's no escape. Idea-starved feature story writers are salivating at the thought of something to do copy about for days together, theme-starved marketers are salivating at the thought of a great excuse to sell lower without appearing undignified, and membership-starved event venues and resorts are salivating at the thought of big paid evenings. Guess who's making their day? You, hee, hee! Those were the days my friend, we thought friendship wasn't for a one-day end.
No escape, we said? Oops, sorry! Green Park's Escape is celebrating the Friendship Day "festival" for a 3-day period, starting on the 3rd. On this occasion, its Escape pub is bringing Hyderabad the rock and roll of the '60s, the country music of the '70s and the pop of the '80s. No, no rock, sorry.
On the first day Escape will present the rock and roll of '60s, with The Beatles, Elvis Presley, Righteous Brothers and more making the day of those still in that era. The second day will see DJ Sunny churning out several all time favorites. And on the last day, some of the best of the '70s and the '80s, including Cliff Richards, Eagles, Jim Reeves, Neil Diamond, Diana Ross, Olivia Newton John and Abba, will be presented. The '80s is pop culture, and it will be the best of Bruce Springsteen, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Roxette, David Bowie, Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder, Phil Collins, Elton John and such others.
Apart from the music, there is Tambola, "play the duel poker with a straight face", and jiving to the tune of Jailhouse Rock. There are also a plenty of surprise gifts from the Hotel and Sand Pipers (the sponsor).
