REVIEW FOR LEPAKSHI CRAFTS BAZAAR

An exhibition of handicrafts and handlooms is on, from the 21st to the 31st of December, at the S R Nagar Community Hall. Held every year during the festival season, the exhibition is eagerly awaited for its wide range of crafts and handlooms from all over the country, and for the reasonable prices.

The display includes an array of handicrafts like softwood toys and dolls from Kondapalli and Etikoppakku villages, hand-paintings in Cherial, Nirmal, Kalahasti and Batik styles, puppets and lampshades in leather, metal castings and sheet-metal artware, silver jewelry, brass artware, Bidriware, carvings in stone and wood, silver filigree, ceramic and terracotta pottery.

The handlooms section is no less attractive, as there are Lucknowi Chikan suits, saris and nighties, handloom doormats, Kalamkari blockprints from Machilipatnam, cotton dhurries and Banjara tribal embroidery. Fine handlooms from Mangalagiri, Narayanpet, Siddipet, Venkatgiri, Gadwal, Pochampally, Dharmavaram and Kothakota are also on display.
