From Pune to Hyderabad has been a long journey for Arvind. About 15 years, to be precise. And the detours have been impressive.
An exhibition of figurative paintings by Arvind Kolapkar is on from 24th March, at the Alankritha Art Gallery. A collection of Arvind's recent paintings is on display, done with acrylic colors on canvas. These paintings have young women, men and children playing musical instruments like the flute, the shehnai and the Meera tampura.
Arvind has a Diploma in Painting from Pune, and is currently working as a visiting lecturer in Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya, Pune. He has organised solo exhibitions of his works at Malaika Spice in Pune, Jahangir Art Gallery in Mumbai and Charizma Art Gallery in Pune, in addition to being part of various group shows in Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Aurangabad and Singapore.
He received several awards for his works, including the Annual Art Exhibition Portrait Award in 1994 and 1995, the Annual Art Exhibition Portrait Award in 1995, the International Cartoon Competition Award in 1995, the South Central Zone Nagpur Award in 1997, the V V Oak Smruti Portrait Certificate in 2000, and the State Art Painting Award in 2002.
