You'll find him a lot in the St. Ann's Degree College For Women. Yes, several men would call him lucky. But lots of them say that of his talent.
An exhibition of paintings in mixed media by Shamsuddin is on for 3 days at Chitramayee - State Gallery of Fine Arts, from 29th March. A total of about 35 paintings on various subjects and themes are on display.
Shamsuddin's paintings are figurative and abstract. No painting is theme-based, except for a few that are on beautiful young women, and some Greek paintings. You find paintings of landscapes, beaches, Hindu gods, Steffi Graf, a handful on beautiful young women in very bright colors (mostly in red fabrics), and several abstracts. At the end, there are about five paintings on muscular and semi-nude Greek gods and two on Socrates. Other than acrylic paints, the artist has used clay on many of his paintings to give the feel of embossing.
Shamsuddin is an established, professional painter of Hyderabad since the last 15 years, and is a self-taught and gifted artist. He is visiting faculty at the St Ann's Degree College in the city. A versatile artist, he has expertise in different art forms such as oil, clay, mural and sculpture. His unique specialization is in making crafts using waste material.
