The State Handicrafts Development Corporation, together with Lepakshi, is organising an exhibition of handicrafts and handlooms, from 26th April to 5th May, at the Pushpa Gardens Function Hall, Chaitanyapuri. About 30 artisans from across Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Assam are exhibiting their work during this 10-day exhibition.
Among the exhibits are handicrafts and handlooms including Kondapalli, Ethikoppaka and Nirmal toys; Banjara embroidery and Kalamkari works; Venkatagiri, Pochampally, Gadwal and Mangalagiri handlooms; Hyderabadi bidriware; carvings in stone and wood; ceramic and terracotta pottery; crochet laces, cotton dhurries, silver filigree; and a variety of leather and brass artefacts.
There is also a big variety of Assam cane furniture including 3+1+1 sofa sets, centre tables, side tables, corner tables, stools, chairs and lamp shades. Other items include coasters, mats, pen stands, hand fans, decorative wall hangings and flower vases, all made with bamboo.
