When the hot new store in town decides to showcase the works of weavers from various Indian states, isn't that some fashion forecast? Whether it is that our traditional brethren are moving towards the masses' tastes or the other way round, it can only be some good news. But forecasts will be forecasts, so lets see how much money gets in here.
Urvi (the name means 'earth' in Sanskrit), a newly opened clothes store in Model House, is hosting an exhibition of trendy clothes for Hyderabadi women. Urvi has invited weavers from all over the country to take part in this exhibition. Dress material in silks, cottons, tussars etc. will be on display here for 4 days. Artistry on dress material by the artisans will be on display, and will cost between Rs. 350 and Rs. 9,000.
The exhibition will showcase fabrics from Andhra Pradesh and Bengal, block prints from Utsav and Delhi, ikkat from Orissa, tussar dabus and kotas from Rajasthan, kasutis from Karnataka, parthanis from Maharastra and batiks from Madhya Pradesh.
