Whoever let the chinese out, he did a whole lot of restaurateurs a huge favor. From those of the 7-stars to the red colored roadside dole-outs, lots of livelihoods are made by the dishes from Szechwa and Manchuria. And if the popularity was ever in doubt, then this should be an indicator that it has gone real North - just the gourmets are now in such numbers that there is a month-long festival of specialized Northern Chinese food!
Mainland China has some exotic fare lined up for connoisseurs of food as a part of its North Chinese Food Festival. Some unusual items like winter melon soup with lotus seeds, boiled northern dumpling soup, steamed spring chicken with straw mushrooms, sliced fish with Shaoxiang wine, beef, pork, stir fried kidney with water chestnuts, Mongolian hot pot, Pekinese duck meat rolled in pancake (Peking duck rolls), Chinese cabbage in cream sauce, colored prawns, charcoal grilled barbecue lamb and Pekinese drunken chicken will be served during the period.
The restaurant claims that this is the first such Chinese food festival to be held in the country. Please contact Joy Ganguly, Manager, at 330-4500/330-4600 for further details.
