Eenadu Champion Badminton Championships: Events in Hyderabad

REVIEW FOR EENADU CHAMPION BADMINTON CHAMPIONSHIPS

The hunt for the best badminton player of AP has hit town. Just remember that old rule: everyone can play baddy.

The Eenadu Group is organising the Eenadu Inter-College Shuttle Badminton Championships on 23rd and 24th January, at the Guru Gobind Singh Multi-Purpose Sports Complex on Dharam Karam Road, Ameerpet.

This is an inter-district state-level tournament, and is being played at all district headquarters of the state. The winners from all the inter-college tournaments held at various districts will clash for the overall state championship to be held in Hyderabad, for which the dates haven't been finalised.

The inter-college tournament on 23rd and 24th January at Hyderabad has 64 entries in the men's singles, 16 in the men's doubles, 16 in the women's singles and 8 in the women's doubles. The men's singles will start on the 23rd, while the men's doubles, and the women's singles and doubles will start on 24th January.

All the matches will be played in the knock-out format, and the finals will be in the best-of-three system. The winners will be awarded championship shields and certificates, and will gain entry to the state-level championships. The prizes at the state-level tournament are a TVS Star City bike for the men's singles, a TVS Scooty Pep Plus for the women's singles, and DVD players and other home appliances for the men's and women's doubles.
