REVIEW FOR LEPAKSHI CRAFT BAZAAR

Lepakshi exhibitions have only 2 questions asked - where and when. Here's the latest in town - an exhibition of handicrafts and handlooms from the 21st to the 31st of January, at the S R Nagar Community Hall.

The exhibition houses an array of handicrafts including softwood toys and dolls from Kondapalli and Etikoppakku villages, hand-paintings in Cherial, Nirmal, Kalahasti and Batik styles, puppets and lampshades in leather, metal castings and sheet-metal artware, silver jewelry, brass artware, Bidriware, carvings in stone and wood, silver filigree, ceramic and terracotta pottery.

The handlooms section is no less attractive as there are Lucknowi Chikan suits, saris and nighties, handloom doormats, Kalamkari blockprints from Machilipatnam, cotton dhurries and Banjara tribal embroidery. Fine handlooms from Mangalagiri, Narayanpet, Siddipet, Venkatgiri, Gadwal, Pochampally, Dharmavaram and Kothakota are also on display.
