If music be the food of life, then here's a family that's likely to live very
long. Bilahari Ganapati Sastry - Gemini Ganesan in Rudraveena for the uninitiated
- wouldn't have minded some penances for something like this (now that's not to
say that we disagree with the actual progeny there - just that his seem to be
the most appropriate eyes to see this).
Ajanta Arts Academy is a music institute started by brothers N C Murthy and N C Sridhar in Sep '99 to train students in classical music. The elder brother, N C Murthy, is actively involved in the teaching. While members belonging to the Ajanta family can join for free, others need to pay a small fee.
Today the academy is organizing a classical music nite, and the concept is 'Sangeetopasan' (the practice of music). The participants will present different keertanas, composed by Saint Thyagaraja, Deekshitar etc.
The artists are V Hema Chandra, N C Praveen, N C Karunya, S T P V Sarathy, N C Chary, N C Spoorthi, M Divya, N C S Ravali, V Hima Bindu, N Sowjanya, V Sasikala Swamy and N C Vani (see what we were saying about the family thing?). Muralidhar Acharya on the violin and Rajagopalachary on the mrudangam will support the artists.
Neti Sree Rama Murthy will be the chief guest on the occasion. Please contact
N C Sridhar at 455-3231(R)/320-1653(O) for further details.
