REVIEW FOR CARROM TOURNAMENT
APSRTC is into some serious games with the government, but others have chosen the carrom board to fight their battle.
The All India Public Sector Sports Promotion Board, in association with the Life Insurance Corporation (LIC), is organising India's first public sector sports talent show, at the Lal Bahadur Stadium. The teams participating in the contest include BSNL, ONGC, Indian Oil, Police force, Indian Airlines, etc.
There are many world champions and national champions participating in this tournament. R M Shankara from the Indian Airlines (Tamil Nadu), Apoorva from LIC (Andhra Pradesh), and the current national champion Natraj (Indian Airlines) are taking part in this tournament. Maria Irudayam, an Arjuna award winner for carroms, and 2 times world champion, is also taking part in this competition.
A total of 16 teams are taking part in this championship. There are 11 men's teams and 5 women's teams. Each team consists of 6 members.
