Nada Bharathi is conducting a Sampradaya Trinity Music Festival (a special Ragam Tanam Pallavi festival series) at Kala Subbarao Kala Vedika, the mini-hall of the Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha, Chikkadpally, for 6 days - from 16th June to 21st June.
D Vardhani will be performing a Carnatic vocal recital on the last day today, in memory of Srirangam Gopala Ratnam. She will be supported by Poosarla Manorama on the violin and P Jaya Bhasker on the mridangam.
Vardhani is a senior disciple of P V Seshayya Sastry in Vizianagaram, and learnt under him in the gurukula system for 16 years. She was her guru's most beloved disciple, and was appreciated by him for her utter devotion. She has done M A in Music from Andhra University, Visakhapatnam.
Vardhini is known for her sweet and clear rendition of the kritis. She has performed at various important cities like Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi and Hyderabad. She has been conferred upon many titles, such as Gaana Kokila and Madhura Kokila.
Nada Bharathi was started in 2000 by a renowned mridangist, Yuva Sangeeta Bharathi Paravastu Srinivas Gopalan, who hails from a family of classical musicians. The basic objective of the organisation is to preserve, promote and propagate all forms of classical music, by increasing awareness through regular concerts.
Since its inception, it has conducted more than 500 concerts, concentrating not only on Carnatic music but also on Hindustani. The organisation has held musical concerts of renowned vocalists, violinists, mridangists, flautists and vainikas.
