This weekend, classical dance enthusiasts are going to have a lark. And a kick-off with Sainath's stamp on it only whets the appetite.
Kalasagaram, a cultural association based in Secunderabad, is organizing a Youth Festival of Dance on 9th, 10th & 11th March at the Keyes Girls High School in Secunderabad. Today, the inaugural day, Krithika Krishnan will present a Bharatanatyam recital.
Krithika Krishnan is a disciple of Nrithya Choodamani Rajeshwari Sainath, and has performed at various venues in the city. Sainath is a well-known dancer and the director of Srutilaya Kendra Natyalaya, a dance institute. She is a recipient of a number of awards, Nritya Choodamani and Kalaimamani being the most prominent.
The ensemble and support for the recital will be provided by Rajeshwari Sainath with the nattuvangam, Sai Bhavadharini with the vocals, Srinivas on the mridangam, Sivaprasad on the violin, Venkatesh on the flute, Srikanth for the special effects and Verma for the make-up.
Kalasagaram is a South-Indian cultural association situated in the East Nehru Nagar of East Marredpally, and has been organising Carnatic music concerts for more than 35 years. The concerts are always held in the Keyes High School campus in the open-air theater. The singers are generally from outside Hyderabad, usually amateurs and upcoming artistes, and quite competent. Kalasagaram also occasionally stages South-Indian classical dances and Tamil plays.
