What can make Euphoria even better? Well, the organizers of this one would have that rephrased - What can make Acumen even better?
Acumen 2007, the annual technical festival of Vasavi Engineering College, kickstarts on 7th March and will go till the 10th of March. Being held simultaneously with the youth festival Euphoria, Acumen promises to be one of the biggest technical fests of the year. The events will see a confluence of bright minds and great ideas. Young engineers will be presenting their insights and technical acumen in the form of fun-filled events. With immense talent and potential to be tapped, this fest provides a novel platfrom to these students to bring out the best in them.
Acumen triggered off in the year 1996, and since then has been rising to new heights with every passing year. With huge participation from all over the state and the country in paper presentations, poster presentations, workshops and technical symposiums, this is one of the most eagerly awaited fests.
This year, with the introduction of more fun-filled technical games, it promises to be even more interesting. Following are the happening events of the fest:
Paper And Poster Presentations
Participants are required to present their papers on various pre-announced topics in the engineering fields of CSE/IT, Civil, EEE, Mechanical and ECE.
Gurpreetpal Singh, VP - Product Development, Microsoft, and Venkataramana, VP, Mahindra & Mahindra, will be guests who will deliver lectures.
Demonstrations are vital to making an imprint in the minds of people about any issue. Live demos comprise exhibits from various subjects of science and technology. This event provides an opportunity to learn and understand the simplicity and intricacies of various demos.
The most exciting and interesting part of any tech fest. Acumen has this year introduced Robotarium with Rs. 15,000 worth prizes to be won. It includes Robo Soccer (football with robots), Wrestle Mania (wrestling match) and Reach The Zenith (robots that climb a staircase). Other games include:
ABC The Bug Is Free
A game that tests your knowledge of the C programming language through coding and debugging problems.
Art O CAD
This event is an exhibit of designing skills. Demonstrate your idea for a given instance of everyday life through a drawing.
Service To Humanity
Provide or suggest innovative solutions to the given set of problems.
Design a structure that can withstand multiple jets of water.
It All Adds Up
Market a given product with your skills and inputs.
Compose the wackiest mixture that leads to a colored fire. The best idea wins.
Participants are required to build a wired/un-wired machine to pick up sand and dump it into a specified zone on the arena.
The Final Punch
The objective is to come up with the most convoluted and creative solution to punch holes using a two-hole puncher on an A-4 sheet.
The objective is to play by market rules, invest or sell stocks, and by the end of the game, have as large a net value as possible. All this to done with Rs. 1 lakh worth of capital.
It's All Science
A daily event, it covers Crossword, Jumbles and Technical Scavenger Hunt.
