It's not fun buying handicrafts for exorbitant prices. Of course, if you're the seller, there's no fun like it. But not many of us are sellers of handicrafts, so we usually crib about the prices. To help us, the Artisans Association of the state has come up with an exhibition where all the middlemen have been eliminated.
The artisans' fair of handicrafts is more or less an extension of the annual Shilparamam exhibition. Artists from all over the state exhibit their own art. So rest assured, the prices here (though not as inexpensive as we expect - are they ever?) are definitely lesser than at any other place.
These are what you can expect to find in plenty: stone figure moulds, leather crafts, jute crafts, puppetry - leather and other material - Rajasthani shoes, brass items, crockery, Nirmal paintings, metalware, Bidri, exquisite wood carvings, inlay works, Crochet laces, terracotta pottery, carpets, durries, jewelry... the only thing that these guys aren't selling is Bipasha Basu. They'd sell her, too, but who's ready to buy?
