You have a TV channel for it. It is about how well a necessity, called clothing, is flirted with to evolve an art form called fashion. Where lives are taken (due to both homicides and anorexia) and where style is all about wearing blinding colors and no dress. Thankfully, Indian dress designers are still primitive and hence believe in some stuff called aesthetics. Here's one for you.
Anshu Modi, a renowned dress designer, is displaying her designer clothing at 'also', a cloth store in Begumpet. She is known for her awesome creations of traditional Indian wear like salwars, saris, ghagras and home linen, and also noted for her innovative use of color combinations. The highly intricate embroidery, zardozi, has been used in all the dress materials exhibited here, and comprises jaali work, gold and silver beading, gota, sequin and even metallic twine.
The saris are set-free prints and the borders have been worked on using mukaish and chickani works. Salwar suits have also been made to undergo a sea-change with some trendy designs and bright colors.
In the traditional wear section, there is a special dress sporting a sensuous look that comprises a barebacked Rajasthani choli with dupatta.
These exquisite creations of salwar kurta ensembles, saris and ghagra- cholis and are on display till the 7th of this month. Please contact 341-2047 for further details.
