REVIEW FOR ADSOPHOS 2K7 - A...

If you know the meaning of the name, you'll probably win several competitions here - an important thing they are testing is your knowledge. An even more important thing, however, is your stamina for fun!

Adsophos 2K7, the annual national-level technical festival of Muffakham Jah College of Engineering & Technology, is being held at the college campus on 27th & 28th February. Conducted jointly by the Computer Science Engineering & IT, ECE, EEE & IE, Mechanical & Production, and Civil Engineering departments of the college, this is a major technical festival organized by the college, and an eagerly awaited one.

Adsophos provides a platform for budding engineers to showcase their talent and creativity, and is also a meeting ground for students of different streams to exchange ideas and thoughts. That's an important sounding sentence that only the profs care about - the students look forward to the ample number of fun events, which making the otherwise learning experience an incredible bunch of memories.

The best parts of Adsophos are the technical paper presentation, the technical quiz and the technical design contest, one event by each of the departments of the college. A detailed description for each of the events:

CSE & IT Departments

Entrevista
A Paper Presentation contest, it covers the stream of Computer Science and Information Technology.

Programador
The programming contest which will test your programming, logical and analytical skills, and the ability to solve the problems efficiently in the given time.

Spot The Bug
Spot the bugs in a few programs and win loads of prizes.

Confondre
A network puzzle, it is one of the popular events. The puzzles may range from numerical challenges to ciphers to just plain brain teasers.

Catechize
The most awaited pure-tech quiz, this is a perfect test for one's technical perception, perseverance and prudence.

Beautiful Mind
The creative event, it is a great platform to showcase one's creative ideas related to any engineering stream.

Pro-tege's War
A virtual interview, where you win prizes by giving the best interview.

The War Of Words
The technical debate or a group discussion.

Consomatics
It is the Game Presentation contest. It challenges the avid gamer, who knows a bit of coding, to create a game, a product of his/her imagination.

Enigmind
An incredibly difficult and interesting online game. It's a series of puzzles, the objective being to get to the next screen. The first several are quite easy, but after that the game gets much harder.

Nettizen
A web designing event that involves students working in teams to build innovative and creative websites.

Other than the above, Carrera - a tech-cum-fun contest, an online quiz, Adventurous Race - the decoding game, and the Network Gaming are the other events.

Mechanical & Production Departments

Baroque
A technical paper presentation contest on the topics of Unmanned Vehicles - Aeronautical Engg., Composite Materials In Aeronautical Engg., Mechatronics, Computational Fluid Dynamics Analysis, Advancements In Automobile Engineering, Nanotechnology, Reverse Engineering, Cryogenics, and Finite Element Analysis.

The Salamander
About Robotics - the objective is to make a small-engineered amphibious machine that can travel along a path marked with balloons.

Thunderbolt
Also about Robotics - race the vrooooming machines in the water.

Junkyard Wars
This is a contest in which a team has to build a working model out of the scrap provided, depending on the given task.

Dexter's Lab
This event involves disassembling and assembling the given component. The fastest and most accurate team takes home the prize.

Concomitance
Each team is required to make a contraption, which bursts a balloon placed at a distance of 1m and at a height of 1ft from the marked end point.

Project X
This event tests the participants' quick thinking to complete a task that is extremely simple. The teams are required to construct a model with the provided material, depending on the given problem statement. The models will then be tested to select the best.

Take-Off
Teams participating in this event are required to make models of gliders, under the given constraints, which will be launched by a catapult.

Quiz
A technical quiz which tests engineers in the basic principles that they need to know.

ECE Department

Tagung
A technical paper presentation.

Technical Safari
The electronic equipment showcase contest, that will test one's understanding of the working of the equipment/gadget, presentation skills, and, above all, the communication skills to effectively and efficiently, and in a simple and lucid manner, describe the underlying concepts of electronics in the working of the equipment.

Conundrum
The marketing puzzle - present a product which is original, creative (wacky), not preexisting in the market, but logical.

Poster Presentation, Grey Matter - the general quiz, Texvicog - the technical quiz, Circuit Design, and Hardware Model Presentation, are the remaining contests.

EEE & IE Departments

This department hosts some interesting events, including:

Civil Engineering Department

Some of the highlights of the department's events are:

5. Schema - AutoCAD Design
6. Everestica - Surveying Contest
7. Crossover - Build A Bridge
8. Prowess - Hand Drawing
