Art is increasingly bought more as an investment, and for several people, most modern art anyway looks as creative as a share certificate. Trying to throw light on how art is much more than all that is a week-long festival in town.
The Lalit Kala Akademi of New Delhi, in association with the Kalahita Art Foundation, Hyderabad, is organising the National Art Week from 22nd to 28th February, at the Kalahita Art Foundation in Nagarjuna Hills. Eminent artists of the city like Laxman Aelay, Dr Anjani Reddy, Fawad Tamkanat, Chippa Sudhakar, Prashant Lahoti, Parameshwar Raju and Koeli Mukherjee Ghose will participate in various discussion sessions, slide presentations and workshops during the week. The schedule is given below:
22nd February
5:00pm - Inauguration of the Art Week by Rameshwar Thakur, Governor of Andhra Pradesh, and function presided over by Prof R B Bhaskaran, Chairman, Lalit Kala Akademi
05:30pm - Folk music program by Telangana artistes
23rd February
5:30pm - A discussion on Art Technology & Collection, by a group of eminent artists, at the auditorium of Chitramayee, State Gallery of Fine Arts, Kavuri Hills, Madhapur. Panelists are Ravinder Reddy, P Parameshwar Raju, Dr. Anjani Reddy, Nemiraj Shetty, Prashant Lahoti, Koeli Mukherjee Ghose and Kaz Rahman.

5:30pm - Clay modeling demonstration by Durga Prasad
25th February
5:30pm - Slide presentation of paintings by Laxman Aeley
7:00pm - Through The Eyes Of A Painter, a film by M F Hussain
26th February
5:30pm - Slide presentation of paintings by Chippa Sudhakar
7:00pm - A Film on Tagore's paintings, by Ranabir Ray
27th February
5:30pm - Clay painting by Shyam Bharat Yadav
28th February
Slide presentation of paintings by Fawad Tamkanat
7:00pm - A Film on works of Nandalal Bose, by Ranabir Ray
