Shilparamams weekly dose of music and culture. This time, it's Sirisha. The cultural capital of Hyderabad is organising their weekly musical program of devotional and semi-classical recital by Devulapally Sirisha on 2nd September.
This evening, Sirisha starts with a recital of Siddhi Vinayakam or Vathapi Ganapathim, followed by Annamacharya Sankeerthanas as, Oka Pariki Oka Pari in Karaharipriya Raagam, Meluko Srungara Raya in Malayamarutha Raagam, Entha Mathramuna in Raagamalika Raagam. She also does other classical recitals as Sumanusa Vandhita in Revathi Raagam, etc.
Devulapally Sirisha is the daughter of Kasibatta Seetarama Sastry, a retired SE Railway employee of Visakhapatnam and Seetarathnam, a housewife and musician on her own. Sirisha learnt music from various gurus of music in the port city of Vizag, like IVLN Sastry, Jaladakshi, Saraswati Vidharthi and Indira Kameshwari. She continues to sharpen her music under one of the famous Hyderabad Brothers, Seshachary.
Sirisha has been awarded the Dwaram Venkatasami Memorial Award for standing first in music at Andhra University. She has performed in many towns and cities of repute in India. She presently runs a music academy by the name, Prachotan Music Academy in Yellareddyguda, teaching vocal skills to aspiring students of music.
