Tonight Revati is here to pull a few strings. Your heart is sure to respond.
The Kala Sagaram cultural organisation is presenting a veena recital by Revati Krishna, today at the Keyes High School For Girls. This organisation has been established in the year 1967, and has dedicated itself to the promotion of Indian arts and culture.
Revati Krishna is the great grand daughter of the carnatic musical exponent Sri Ram Iyer, of Thillai Stanam. Sri Ram Iyer is the direct disciple of the saint and musical composer, Thyagaraja.
Revati has been trained in veena by Siva Nandam Pillai, and his wife, Sarada Nandam Pillai. She has also been coached by Kalpakam Swaminatham. Her performance has won her the title of Kalaimamani from the government of Tamil Nadu. She is the first Indian to have participated in the Asia Pacific Culturak Festival at Japan, in the year 2002. Her veena recital today will span more than 2 hours.
