REVIEW FOR THE GREAT FORD DRIVE

This one ranks all the way on the top to get your blood rushing, adrenalin pumping and your head spinning. One of the most spectular displays, it is not to be missed. So, even if all you know about cars is from pressing your nose against and ogling outside those big, intimidating glass showroom windows, this is a must. And for the rest of you car freaks this is like oxygen when you've been asphyxiated underwater.

Now comes the part where we tell you what it is that we have been rattling on about for one excruciatingly long paragraph followed by an even more excruciatingly long sentence. Drumroll... The Ford Thunderbird is being displayed at Hitex Exhibition Centre. Yea, yea, this is the same set of wheels that Halle Berry drove in Die Another Day. The Ford Thunderbird is such a beauty, it got more whistles than did the leading lady. Not that she is complaining.

This Ford Thunderbird is the '007 Edition' of the 1955 original 2-seater sports roadster. It has a 3.9 litre DOHC V-8 engine which boosts the horsepower from 252 hp to 280 hp and is priced at $35,000. It comes with a Coral body finish, a white removable top, a 21 Chrome spoke with 17-inch wheels and white leather interiors.

Other than gawking and drooling, you can also test drive the Ford Endeavour 4X4 - a 2.5L turbo-charged SUV - in a specially created dirt track, laid out by rally expert Jagat Nanjappa. The dirt track is spread over 1.25 lakh sqaure feet, is filled with slush pits, sand traps, steep inclines, rumblers and chicanes.

Other cars that can be test driven here are the Ford Ikon 1.6 Sxi NXT and the Ford Mondeo. Ford also celebrates its 100th year by displaying the 1927 Ford Model A and the 1942 Ford Jeep.
