You can get handicrafts anywhere. All of them look the same and generally cost you the same. So how do you decide what is authentic and what is not? Easy - some people can authentically convince you to pay up all the bucks. No, actually, you go by the name of the organization the craftsmen belong to. There are only two trustworthy organizations- Lepakshi and Datskar.
Datskar hasn't been having an exhibition for the past six years in the city. So this time they return with many innovative and original crafts, combining the colors, skills and motifs of 52 of the traditional crafts groups.
There are Tussar weaves and Godna painitings, Lambadi embroidery and Kasauti soft furnishings, vegetable dyed bags, Bandani Pomchas, Dhokra castings, leather accessories, beaded and tribal jewelry, wooden toys, pottery and other artisan products.
Help yourself to some real craftsmanship and help a struggling artisan in the process.
