The Alliance Francaise of Hyderabad, in association with the Hyderabad Film Club and the French Embassy in India, is screening a French film Le Couperet (The Axe), at the Sarathi Studios in Ameerpet, on 18th September. The film is directed by Costa Gavras, and has Jose Garcia, Karin Viard, Geordy Monfils, Christa Theret and Costa Gavras playing the lead characters.

Bruno has slowly worked his way to the top at a paper mill, until the company merges with another company and moves to Romania to increase profitability. Two years and countless interviews later, Bruno gets worried about his future.

By placing a fake job advertisement in which he asks for people whose profile is similar to his own, Bruno receives the addresses and photos of all his competitors. "Now I need to get over the first killing," he thinks, "Things will surely be easier after that."

The script offers a grimly uproarious idea of what might happen if we do not restrain the tendencies responsible for creating brutal rivalry eradicators in today's consumer society.
