The Dept of Tourism has devoted a whole day to the exploring of the many art forms, customs and traditions typical of our state, on the occasion of Ugadi. One of the most important festivals of the year for Telugus, Ugadi is a also a good time to delve into the cultural bounty of the land.
The day will start off with a photo exhibition of various stalwarts of the Telugu world, in literature, film, politics, and other areas, and this will be accompanied with a brief look at their life and times. But the evening is when the fun really begins. After everyone's partaken of the traditional - not to mention, totally delicious - Ugadi pachchadi and the Panchanga Shravanam has been performed, various cultural programs peculiar to the state will be showcased. Art forms like kuchipudi, carnatic music, and the more rural Harikatha and Burrakatha. There will also be short humour skits during the evening.
And the day will be rounded off with a full-course Ugadi meal. What better way to spend a special day.
