The Times of India (TOI) is organizing a Shaam-e-Ghazal, an evening of ghazals, by Talat Aziz at ITC Hotel Kakatiya.
Talat Abdul Azeen Khan was born on 14th May 1955 at Niloufer Hospital in Hyderabad, to Abdul Azeem Khan and Sajida Abid. He had his initial training from the Kirana Gharana, formed by Abdul Karim Khan Saheb. His first major performance was in Hyderabad at King Kothi, in front of a crowd of over 5,000. After his graduation he moved to Bombay in 1979. His first album titled Jagjit Singh Presents Talat Aziz, was released in 1979.
Talat Aziz was discovered at a time when Hindi film music was losing its popularity to Western beats, and ghazals were slowly winning hearts. A singer, actor and composer, he has lent his voice for films, composed music for teleserials like Deewar, Baaz, Adhikaar, Ghutan, Sailaab and Aashirwaad, and released many albums. He has also acted in many serials on the small screen.
The entry is by invitation only, and invites are available at Walden in Begumpet, and at The Times of India office at Banjara Hills. Seating is on a first-come-first-served basis.
