Daira Arts & Crafts, run by art critic Atiya Amjad, is organizing a 17-day exhibition of paintings called Deeper Than Skin, with artists from across the country participating. The show groups together an interesting set of figurative artists who utilize the human body to divulge into multiple perspectives - of humour, performance, psychology and philosophy.
The artists who will take part in the exhibition are C F John, Babu Xavier, Nabibhaksh Mansoori, Tapan Dash, Pratual Dash, Alok Bal, Murali Cheeroth, Dharmendra Rathod, Mukesh Sharma, Rajendra Kapse, Rajeshwara Rao, Sudhakar Chippa and D L N Reddy.
Dr. Geetha Reddy, Minister For Major Industries, Sugar, Commerce & Export Promotion, will inaugurate the exhibition. The guest of honour will be Padmasri Jagdish Mittal.
Daira Arts & Crafts was closed down for 2 years (2006-2008) for renovation, and is being opened this month, with this being their first major comeback exhibition. Please contact Atiya at 6661-8628/98490-34610 for further details.
