Featuring far more sides to Raavi Kondala Rao than you knew existed. And hopefully you did not go "Raavi Kondala Rao, who?"
Rasaranjini, as part of its monthly staging of theatre plays, is organising a Telugu comedy play called Nalugilla Chavidi, on 16th December, at Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha. The play is about the daily lives of four joint families living in a small house - their misunderstandings, petty quarrels, rapprochements, affection, friendship, togetherness and so on. It ends with a moral that if there is no unity and bonding in this small house of four families, it's hard to expect it among the people of this country.
The play was written by Raavi Kondala Rao in 1961, and was first screened during the 1962 China War, at Madras Children's Theatre in the Akashvani Club premises. It received the best writer, best actress and best supporting actor awards when it was staged during the Andhra Nataka Kala Parishad Competition in 1962 at Ravindra Bharathi. It was subsequently screened at Vijayawada, Guntur, Eluru, Bellary, Madras and other places, and received appreciation all over.
Also directed by Raavi Kondala Rao, it is being presented by R K Arts from Hyderabad, and has Raavi Kondala Rao, Radha Kumari, Sutthi Velu, Ananth, Jyothi, Allu Ramesh, S R Gandham and Master Karthik as its characters.
Raavi Kondala Rao has written and directed for, and acted in about 350 Telugu movies. He also has 25 plays to his credit. Kukkapilla Dorikindi, Pattalu Thappina Railu and Professor Parabrahmam are some of his best plays. He has won several awards for his movies and plays.
