This week, Shilparamam brings you an eclectic mix of folk and classical dances, and vocal concerts. What's homogenous is the youthful exuberance of the performers!
As part of its weekly program of classical music and dance, Shilparamam is organising a devotional vocal music, classical dance and folk dance program by the students of Suprasri Music Academy, this Saturday.
The program starts with a devotional vocal concert by Kanaka Durga, Krishna Kumar, Sujatha and Shekhar, singing some sankeertanas of Annamacharya, Thyagaraya and Ramadas. This will be followed by Bharatanatyam and folk recitals. Sneha, Niharika, Jhansi, Lavanya, Deepika, Mounika, Supraja, Kavya, Jyothi, Pramoda Devi and Sravya will perform the Konaseema dance, Adavi Malli Paata, Ashada Masana, Akhilandeshwari Chamundeswari, Namo Namo Nataraja and Devi Bhavani.
Suprasri Music Academy was started by Kanaka Durga in 1995, at Neredmet. The academy has about 50 students learning Carnatic and folk vocal, Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi and folk dances. Kanaka Durga is a B-High graded artiste of the All-India Radio. She has done her M A in music from the Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University. Both her daughters Lavanya and Pramoda Devi are dancers, with the latter also being a choreographer of folk dances.
