The Shastri Soccer Club is organising the Sachdev Sports Cup Under-13 Football Tournament from 2nd to 10th June, at the Lal Bazaar Football Grounds in Trimulgherry. 16 teams are participating in this knockout format tournament, with the teams divided into four groups.
Group A has Gymkhana, Trimulgherry A, Gandhinagar and Geetanjali. Group B has V V Nagar, Bolarum, FUC and James Sr. XI. Group C has Ramakrishnapuram (R K Puram), Venkatapuram, Kamalanagar and Trimulgherry C. Group D has J J Nagar, Valerian, Trimulgherry B and Central Battery.
All the matches in the four groups will be played in the league-cum-knockout format, and the top team from each group moves into the knockout/semifinal phase. The schedule is given below:

With no state and federation support, this tournament is being organised with internal funding from Sachdev Sports and die-hard footballers like Tony, Jesu Raj, Aleem Khan, Amalraj and Mohan. These ex-stars pick children from the nearby slums and coach them free of cost. To enthuse them, they organise under-16 and under-18 community level tournaments and inter-schools tournaments at the Lal Bazaar football ground.
This ground has been the hub of many football activities since the 1960s, and has produced some of the best footballers of those days, like Victor Amalraj, K P Dhanraj, Balaraman, Peter Thangaraj, D Kannan, P Ramaswamy, Aleem Khan, Tony and John Victor. The Shastri Soccer Club was established and is being run by these stalwarts for the last four decades.
