When was the last time you heard a sparrow's chirp? Yes, did you know sparrows were going extinct? It hurts this man a lot more than it does us, but the result is a delight.
The G V R Cultural Foundation, in association with Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha, is releasing a book containing a collection of 41 poems by Potturi Subba Rao, at Kala Subbarao Kala Vedika this Saturday. Titled Picchuka Goodu, the book will be released by Seela Veeraraju, a novelist.
The poems in the book have been composed on the extinction of sparrows, anti-globalisation, the Andhra Pradesh state union and Srisri's poems. On this occasion, Sailaja Mitra will organise a kavi sammelan in which eminent writers and poets like Chimmapudi Ramamurthy, Y Ramakrishna Rao, Pedduri Venkata Das, Sailaja Mitra, Renuka Ayyola and V S S Hema will participate.
The chief guest for the function is P Vijayababu, Associate Editor of Andhra Prabha, and he will felicitate all the writers and poets. The other guest invitees are Pulivarthi Krishnamurthy, novelist; Sudama, poet and literary critic; M Dattatreya Sarma, poet; Baisa Devadasu, Editor, Neti Nijam; and Pedduri Venkata Das, novelist.
Potturi Subbarao works as a PRO in the I & PR department, and has done a P G Diploma In Public Relations. He got motivated to study Telugu literature during his college days in N B Science College, Hyderabad, during the 1970s, by his Telugu teacher Ramayya's teachings. Since then, he has been writing poems and short stories for the college magazines, newspapers and the I & PR journals. This is his first book, and intends to write some short stories which will be released in September this year.
