Shilparamam is starting to shimmer from today. And they've got the right person to welcome it all!
Shilparamam, on the occasion of the All India Crafts Mela from 16th to 31st December, is organising a Kuchipudi dance by Deepika Reddy & Group, this Saturday, the inaugural day.
Deepika, along with her troupe of disciples, namely Samidha Satyam, Mihira Pathuri, Sravya Reddy and Pooja Reddy, will be presenting some group items like Mahadeva Sutham, Govardhana Giridhara, Sivudu Tandavamadenu, Dr M Balamurali Krishna's Tillana, and Pandit Ravi Shankar's Mangalam.
The support orchestra for the recital is D S V Sastry with the nattuvangam, Sweta Prasad for the vocals, Renuka Prasad on the mridangam, Murali on the flute and Saikumar on the violin.
Deepika Reddy was initiated into classical dance in the Kuchipudi and Bharatnatyam styles, by Sumathi Kaushal, at a rather young age. She later on trained under the inspiring guidance and tutelage of Dr Vempati Chinnasatyam, maestro par excellence in the Kuchipudi style of dance.
Under Dr Vempati, Deepika blossomed into a dancer of repute, being able to quickly grasp the advanced principles of the dance. Blessed with a pair of large, expressive eyes, fluid swinging movements and stage presence, Deepika has become a name to reckon with. She portrays every aspect of abhinaya and nritta, exceedingly well.
Deepika has a Post Graduation in Travel and Tourism. She has travelled all over the country and the world, performing in the presence of world dignataries, winning their appreciation and accolades. She has recently toured Belgrade and Turkey, for dance festivals organised by the Indian Council of Cultural Relations.
